BOSTON, MASS 10/12/13 – A pair of sophomores, Ryan Brady (Durham, N.H.) and Samantha Goldsmith (Derry, N.H.) were the top finishers for the Keene State College men's and women's cross country teams respectively, at the New England Championships held Saturday at Boston's Franklin Park.
Brady placed 77th, covering the five mile men's course in a time of 25:50. Goldsmith finished 141st on the women's 5K course with a time of 19:29.
The Keene State men finished 23rd overall and seventh among Division III teams with 611 points. The Owl women were 31st overall and eighth in the Division III standings with 883 points. Central won the men's championship with 74 points while UNH won the women's title with 57 points.
Senior Chris Plankey (Bristol, N.H.) was KSC's second runner, placing 110th in a time of 26:10. Sophomore Hayden Patterson (Dover, N.H.) was 131st (26:23), senior Brett Mastrangelo (Millis, Mass.) was 144th (26:34) and sophomore Brandon Davis-O'Donnell (Nashua, N.H.) finished 150th (26:36).
Two freshmen Elizabeth McGurk (New Ipswich, N.H.) and Lindsay Szuch (Stratford, Conn.) followed Goldsmith to the finish line. McGurk placed 179th (19:57) while Szuch was right behind her in 180th place with a time of 19:58.
Senior Erin Crawford (Townsend, Mass.) who was 201st (20:19) and sophomore Lauren Markoe (Lagrangeville, N.Y.) who finished in 211st place (20:26) round-out the top scorers for the Owls.
Keene State is scheduled to run at the Conn. College Invitational next Saturday.
