WATERVILLE, MAINE. 5/4/13 – Junior Ryan Widzgowski (Camden,
Maine) and senior Maggie Fitter (Branford, Conn.) posted top-three
finishes for Keene State College at the New England Division III
Track and Field Championships held at Colby College in Waterville,
Maine on Saturday. Eight Keene State athletes finished among the
top-eight in their respective events to earn All-New England
Division III honors. Widzgowski finished second in the men's
1,500 race with a time of 3:50.17 while Fitter placed third in the
women's 800 with a time of 2:12.48. Freshman Lauren
Markoe (Lagrangeville, N.Y.) was eighth in the 800 with a time of
2:17.19. The Keene State tied for 18th place in the team standings
with 16 points. MIT won the women's championship with 126.50
points. The KSC men tied for 19th with 13 points. Bates
College (144 points) edged MIT (143 points) for the men's
title. In women's field events, sophomore Samantha Folland
(Newfields, N.H.) placed fourth in the discus while sophomore
Nicole Marrero (Bristol, Conn.) finished fifth in the javelin
(125'-07”). In men's field events, sophomore Ben
Keach (Newfields, N.H.) was seventh in the discus
(150'-07”) and eighth in the shotput
(46'-07.25”). Senior Marcus Ferenc (Westmoreland, N.H.)
placed seventh in the javelin (179'-03”).
