NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass.--Ben Keach and Ryan Widzgowski both posted individual wins as the Keene State College men's track and field squad finished fourth at the Little East Conference Championships at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth on Sunday. The meet had been moved back one day due to inclement weather.
Keach won both the shotput and the discus, both by considerable margins. The junior threw the shot 14.78 meters, a win of 1.52 meters over UMass-Dartmouth's Lusas. Keach also topped Lusas in the discus, throwing 44.84 meters, more than two meters ahead of his nearest competitor, and was second in the javelin with a throw of 50.31 meters.
Widzgowski won the 1,500 meters with a time of 3:59.95, with teammate Ryan Brady in third in 4:00.42. Hayden Patterson was second in the 5,000 meters in 15:48.20, and Mark Rabasco was third in the 10,000 meters in 32:59.87.
Keene State finished with 86 points. UMass-Dartmouth won their second title in three years with 190 points. Southern Maine was second with 150 points, and Rhode Island College third with 92.
The Owls return to the track on May 2-3 at the New England Division III Championships, hosted by Springfield College.
