DELAWARE, Ohio--Keene State College senior Ryan Widzgowski finished ninth in the 1,500 meter race at the NCAA Division III Track and Field Championships at Ohio Wesleyan University on Saturday.
Running in Lane 1, Widzgowski stayed with the pack through the until the final lap, where the senior from Camden, Maine, made his move and took the lead with 80 meters to go before falling back to ninth place at the finish, with a time of 3:51.23.
"Ryan ran the race perfectly," said head coach Peter Thomas. "He gave an all out effort. He hasn't felt well this week and didn't get to train properly. I thought he had it."
McKena Ramos of Wisconsin-Oshkosh won the race with a stadium record time of 3:47.83.
