SPRINGFIELD, Mass.--Several members of the Keene State College track and field teams were in action at the New England Division III Championships at Springfield College on Saturday.
On the men's side, Ryan Widzgowski, Ben Keach, and Angus Fisher all earned All-New England Honors with top eight finishes. Widzgowski placed third in the 1,500 meters in 3:56.01, while Keach was second in the shot put, throwing 15.09 meters. Fisher also was also All-New England in the discus, placing fourth with a throw of 44.00 meters.
There were also three All-New England honorees for the KSC women, including Samantha Goldsmith in the 5,000 meters with a time of 17:46.49 (fifth place), and Kaley Mientkewicz in the steeplechase, finishing eighth in 11:23.04. Karis Bergman was sixth in the shot put, throwing 11.69 meters.
The Owl women were 23rd out of 32 teams, totalling 12 points. MIT won the women's meet with 132 points. The KSC men finished with 19 points to place 16th out of 32. MIT also won the men's side, with 159.83.
The teams return to action next week at the Open New England Championships, hosted by Westfield State University.
