Strong First Half Leads Vassar Over Keene State, 18-13

BRADENTON, Fla. (March 15, 2015) - The Keene State College women's lacrosse team received goals from nine different players in their 16-10 loss to Vassar College Sunday night in the Spring Fling Lacrosse Tournament Sunday evening.The Owls drop to 0-5 with the loss, while the Brewers move to 1-1 on the year with the win.

Vassar came out of the gate firing on all cylinders, scoring four consecutive goals in the opening ten minutes at G.T. Bray Park to take an early lead on the Owls. Keene State finally found the net at the 21:02 mark, getting an unassisted goal from Jenna Bellano to cut the Brewer lead to 4-1. The Brewers then combined for six unanswered goals over a 15 minute span to take a 10-1 lead with 3:21 left in the game.

The Owls were able to tally three of the final four goals in the half, going down 11-4 into the break.

Keene State made things interesting down the stretch, going on a four-goal scoring tear towards the end of game. An unassisted goal from Polly Grey cut the lead to four with 5:04 left in regulation, but Goldstein and Davis shut the door with a pair of goals in the final minutes to seal the six-goal victory.

Alison Argiro made 11 saves in the Owls net.

The Owls will take on Springfield College on Tuesday, March 17 at 11:00 a.m. at the National Training Center.
