Owls Upended by Emerson, 18-5

Box Score

KEENE, N.H. - The Keene State College women's lacrosse team dropped their home opener to Emerson College, 18-5, Monday afternoon at Owl Athletic Complez. KSC dips to 0-3 on the season, while the Lions improve to 2-0.

Polly Grey and Christa Demovellan scored unassisted goals for the Owls to knot the game at 2-2 with 15:36 left in the first half, but the Lions would outscore Keene State 8-2 to go into the intermission with a 9-4 lead. Kaitlin Nolan and Jenna Bellano added the two goals before the half for the Owls.

The Lions opened the second half on a roar, with Tayllar Righini scoring three out of four Emerson goals in the opening 8:18 to jump ahead 13-4.

Kaitlin Nolan's second goal of the game stopped the Lion's scoring streak, making it a 13-5 game, but five unanswered goals by five different players for Emerson put away any hopes of a comeback for Keene State.

Alison Argiro made nine saves in the KSC net, while Emerson goalie Victoria Kanaris made 10 stops.

Up next for the Owls, a road trip to No. 4 Tufts University Wednesday at 7 p.m., while Emerson travels to Union (N.Y.) Thursday at 4 p.m.
