Owls Post 16-8 Triumph on Senior Day

KEENE, N.H. - Junior Kaitlin Nolan recorded her 100th career goal on a career-high six goal day as the Keene State women's lacrosse team posted a 16-8 triumph over UMass Dartmouth Saturday afternoon at Owl Stadium.

With the win, the Owls improve to 4-10 overall and 4-1 in the LEC. The Corsairs drop to 1-12, 0-5.

For KSC, Taylor Graf had a career-best five assists to go with two goals, while Polly Grey and Emilee Silegy each found the back of the net twice. Tori Weinstock collected five ground balls and finished with three forced turnovers. Amanda Makar also had a nice day on defense with four ground balls and three caused turnovers.

Kathryn Gibb led the Corsairs with three markers as classmates Catrina Longo and Kelly Kryzak each finished with two goals.

Keene State raced out to a quick 5-0 lead 6:25 into the game. Taylor Graf, Jenna Bellano and Polly Grey put the Owls in front 3-0, and Graf set up the next two for KSC both scored by Nolan. Gibb stopped the run as she found the back of the net for the Corsairs at the 18:17 mark and the 5-1 score.

Each team would score two-straight, followed by a Kryzak and Nolan goal in the final minute to end the half with the Owls leading 10-4.

The Owls continued to add to their lead, as Nolan and two-straight by Silegy would give KSC a 13-4 advantage. The 14th goal of the game would be Nolan's 100th career goal as the Owls never looked back and put the game away.

KSC freshman Kat Namin notched her first goal of the season with 34 seconds left in the game. 

Keene State's Alison Argiro made four stops, while counterpart Erin LeBlanc made 11 for the Corsairs.

UMD held the 18-8 advantage in draw controls, while the Owls won the ground balls battle 40-19 and outshot the Corsairs 38-19.

Before the game, the Owls honored their two seniors: Polly Grey and Christa Demovellan

Keene State travels to Castleton State for a non-conference matchup with Spartans Tuesday at 7:00 p.m.
