Women's Lax Nets 13-10 Win Over Castleton

KEENE, N.H.--Kaitlin Nolan had four goals and two assists as the Keene State College women's lacrosse team edged Castleton University, 13-10, at Owl Athletic Complex on Tuesday night.

Tale of the Tape

  • In addition to Nolan's six point game, the Owls got two goals and six more assists from junior Taylor Graf.  Samantha Ballard and Tori Weinstock each added two goals, and Kelly Chadnick, Jenna Bellano, and Taylor Farland each had one.
  • Graf now has 38 assists, and 20 in her last four games.  Anna O'Brien made her second start of the season and made four stops for the Owls.
  • Castleton was by a team high four goals and an assist from Brianna MacKay.  Six other Spartans netted a single goal.  
  • Meghan Els had 13 saves in net for Castleton. 


First Half Highlights

  • The Owls scored six of the first seven goals to jump out to a large and early lead.
  • Jenna Bellano scored on a free position effort just over two minutes in, then set up Nolan two minutes later.  Nolan added an unassisted goal before the Spartans got on the board through Chantel Wilkin.
  • Nolan set up the next two KSC goals, from Graf and Ballard, and Tori Weinstock scored 9:14 left for a 6-1 KSC lead.
  • The two teams traded the next five goals, with MacKay scoring twice and Maria Ploof getting another for Castleton, and Ballard and Chadnick for KSC as the Owls led 8-4 at halftime.


Second Half Highlights

  • The teams continued to trade goals, as MacKay netted an unassisted tally to trim the lead to 10-6 before Nolan restored a five goal advantage with 17:41 left.
  • The Spartans grabbed the next three goals, as MacKay and Emily Cross scored 12 seconds apart, and Nadine Downing found the net to make it 12-10 with 14:25 left.
  • Graf gave KSC an insurance marker off a pass from Bellano with 7:55 left, and the Owls were able run out the clock.
