WATERVILLE, Maine--Jenna Bellano and Kaitlin Nolan each scored two goals as the Keene State College women's lacrosse team fell to No. 8 Colby College at Alfond Field on Wednesday night.

Tale of the Tape

  • The Owls hung with the Mules, who have reached the NCAA tournament in nine of the last 10 years, for much of the first half.   
  • Taylor Graf had two more assists, and Samantha Ballard had one.  Graf now has 26 assists this season.  Alison Argiro had 10 saves in net for KSC.   
  • Tori Weinstock caused three turnovers and had four groundballs, while Laura Gendreau also had four groundballs.
  • Colby was led by two goals each from Sasha Fritts, Claire Caputi, Kendal Smith, and Abby Hooper.  Izzy Scribano made five saves.


First Half Highlights

  • The two teams traded goals to open the game, with the Mules scoring 91 seconds in from Emilie Klein before KSC tied it with Nolan's first of the game.
  • Fritts gave Colby a 2-1 lead with 24:14 on the clock, but Bellano retied it three minutes later with an unassisted tally.
  • The Mules would score the next three, taking a 5-2 lead on Smith's free position shot with 4:43 to go.  Bellano's second of the game got KSC within two before Colby scored with 25 seconds left in the half for a 6-3 lead at the break.

Second Half Highlights

  • Colby slowly pulled away; it took the Mules nearly eight minutes in the second half to get one the board, but it was the first of four that Colby would score in the first 22 minutes of the frame.
  • Nolan scored KSC's lone goal of the second half with 7:28 to go before Colby got the final two goals of the game.
