PROVIDENCE, R.I.--The Keene State College track and field team ended the fall semester with competition at the Rhode Island College Invitational on Saturday.

Men's Highlights

Jared Hannon won the long jump for the second straight week, comfortably winning in 6.79 meters to win by .23 meters.  The mark of 6.79 is currently the 21st best in the country; the top 15 will qualify for the NCAA Division III Track and Field Championships in Birmingham, Ala., on March 9-10.   Hannon also took third in the 400 meter dash, in 52.21, and freshman Zach Coburn was fourth in the 1,000 meters in 2:45.56.

The Owls had three of the top six finishers in the mile, including Tyler DeChane's second place nod in 4:45.14, along with Philip Parent in fourth in 4:49.37, and Cameron Giordano in sixth in 4:51.35.  Ian Connell was fourth in the 3,000 meter run in 9:13.84.  

Women's Highlights

Alexis Cooke finished third in the preliminaries of the 60 meter hurdles (9.95), and finished fifth overall in the finals, in 9.96 seconds.  Taylor Bisaillon was sixth in the 400 meter dash, in 1:05.23, and Nicole De Almeida was fourth in the 600 meters in 1:44.88.  Keene State claimed three of the top six spots in the 1,000 meters, led by Brittany Gravallese's second place finish in 3:13.55.  Laura Dawson was fourth in 3:13.92, and Mila Barrera was sixth in 3:23.36.  Cooke was also third in the long jump in 4.97 meters.

Gravallese, Bisaillon, De Almeida, and Alexandra Papadimoulis made up the the winning 4x400 meter relay team, which dominated the race in 4:15.17, nearly a 10 second win over the second placed team from Connecticut College.  That time is currently 20th best in the nation, where the top 12 times qualify for the NCAA Championships.

The season resumes on January 7 at the Dartmouth Relays in Hanover, N.H.
