Strong Performances Fuel Owls At Silfen Invitational

NEW LONDON, Conn.--Joey Fodor and Lauren Perkowski continued their fine spring seasons at the Silfen Invitational at Connecticut College this weekend.

Men's Highlights

Freshman Joey Fodor continued his strong rookie campaign, winning the javelin throw with a toss of 57.55 meters.  As of Saturday night, that throw was the 20th best in the country.

Iid Sheikh-Yusuf was sixth in the 10,000 meters, in 32:42.78 to qualify for the New England Division III Championships, while Angel Ramirez was ninth in the 100 meter dash in 11.13 to qualify for the New England Division III Championships as well.

Keene State finished 14th overall with 21 points.

Women's Highlights

Lauren Perkowski finished second overall in the 10,000 meters in 37:13.57.  As of Saturday night, that time was the ninth best in the country.  

Erin McNemar finished in a three way tie for eighth place in the high jump, leaping 1.50 meters.  Shannon Parks was fifth in the discus at 37.73 meters.   Skyler Gauther finished third in the heptathlon, totalling 4,067 points.  Her heptathlon performances included a fourth place finish in the 200 meter dash (27.53 meters), second in the 800 meters (2:36.47), fifth in the 100 hurdles (16.15), third in the high jump (1.52 meters), first place in the shot put (9.77 meters), third in the long jump (4.91 meters), and third in the javelin (25.73 meters).

Alexis Gauthier was also sixth in the hepathlon, with 3,618 points.  Her hepathlon marks included the 200 meter dash (29.22), sixth in the 800 meter run (2:44.16), sixth in the 100 hurdles (16.15), seventh in the high jump (1.49 meters), third in the long jump (4.91 meters), ninth in the shot put (7.80 meters), and eighth in the javelin (22.05 meters).  Both Gauthiers' heptathlon performances qualified for the New England Division III Championships. 

Keene State finished 10th as a team with 22.33 points.
