How It Happened

Less than a minute later, USM tied things up, when Aliza Jordan scored for the hosts. The Owls responded with two straight, as Ali Daisy scored off a Casey assist, before Chelsea Lewis grabbed her first goal of the day. The Huskies came right back with four straight goals, as Allison Irish, Taylor Rinaldi, Rinaldi again, and Irish put Southern Maine up 5-3. Marina Pappalardo then scored an unassisted goal to cut the lead to one, before Colleen Fleming brought the lead back to two for USM. The back and forth half continued when Erica Chareth scored unassisted at the 3:15 mark, before Fleming added another for the hosts. Chelsea Lewis then scored her second goal of the game to bring the Owls back within one. Southern Maine ended the high scoring half with two goals in the last 30 seconds, as Lindsey Keenan and Irish gave them a 9-6 lead at the break.

KSC picked things up at the start of the second half with two quick goals, as Ali Daisy and Brigid Casey both scored off man-up chances to cut the lead to one. USM started to pull away, as they rattled home four straight goals with Keenan, Jordan twice and Keenan again scoring. At the 14:48 mark, Brigid Casey completed her hat-trick, before Southern Maine added three more to bring the lead to 16-9. Casey then scored her fourth of the game unassisted, before Megan Gorham followed with her first goal.
