How It Happened

The Owls recognized four seniors on a rainy Saturday afternoon at the Owl Athletic Complex, as Samantha Sullivan, Chelsea Lewis, Emily Parker and Anna O'Brien were honored before the game. KSC scored early and often, as Ali Daisy scored the first three goals of the game in just under four minutes. The first goal came unassisted, with the second coming off a feed from Brigid Casey. Her hat-trick came off a free-position shot, before Casey joined in on the scoring with an unassisted goal at the 24:58 mark, to make it a 4-0 lead. Keene State continued their offensive showcase, when Daisy scored her fifth off another fantastic pass from the freshman Casey. Marina Pappalardo then continued her impressive week, as she tallied the Owls seventh unanswered goal. At the 23:23 mark, Erica Chareth got her first goal of the game off a Pappalardo helper, before Emily Parker scored off a great solo run to increase the lead to 9-0. The Corsairs finally broke through, when Brooke Martel fired in a goal off an Isabella Mancini assist. The Owls then continued their dominant half with six straight goals to end the first frame. Brigid Casey scored her third off a feed from Cadence Loos, Emily Parker grabbed her second goal unassisted, and Casey finished her fourth of the game off another Daisy pass. At the 7:43 mark, Cadence Loos finished off a great solo effort with a goal and three minutes later, Megan Gorham scored her first goal of the game. The Owls ended the high scoring half with the last goal, coming off a Christina Kahigian blast with the help of a Loos feed, for a commanding 15-1 lead.

With the huge first half lead, KSC settled in and slowed down their offensive pace in the second half. At the 26:25 mark, Chelsea Lewis took a feed from Casey and sliced through the Corsairs defense for a goal. Sam Muir then answered back for the Corsairs, when she beat the Owl netminder off a free-position shot. Three minutes later, Lewis scored her second goal unassisted with a shot into the bottom left corner. Keene State's defense did a fantastic job preventing the UMass Dartmouth attack from creating an offensive rythym, but the Corsairs did score the final two goals of the game. Isabella Mancini ended the game on a high note, when she finished off two free-position shots, but that was all they could muster. Keene State came away with a 17-4 win on senior day.
