Records:
- Keene State: 1-2
- Colby-Sawyer: 2-2
How it Happened:
Just 17 seconds into the contest, Keene State rushed down the field and scored the opening goal of the game as sophomore Brigid Casey made a pass to the cutting Ali Daisy who fired the ball passed Colby-Sawyer goalkeeper Kailyn Lapham to give the Owls the early 1-0 lead. Keene State would go up two goals just less than two minutes into the contest as the Owls first two-point scorers reversed their roles when Ali Daisy found the cutting Brigid Casey who beat Lapham. KSC continued to pour on the goals in the first half as freshman Haile Ratajack would score her first career goal at the Owl Athletic Complex on a free position shot, extending the Owls lead to three just two minutes and 30 seconds into play.
Senior Erica Chareth found the back of the net on another feed from Ail Daisy, giving the Owls a four-goal lead. Keene State continued to pour on the goals all afternoon long, as Tess Masci, Hailey Ratajack, and Brigid Casey scored for KSC giving the Owls a 7-0 lead. Colby-Sawyer saw their first opportunity come about after they were able to win a draw control and take the ball up the field. The Chargers leading scorer Sarah Morin (12 goals, 2 assists) would take space in front of the goal and fire a shot, but Owls GK Rebecca Koziara was able knock down the shot and push the Owls towards another attack. Keene State would take the momentum from Koziara's first and only save on the half and run down the field and score as Erica Chareth buried her second of the game, with Shannon Weisensee picking up her first point of the season on the assist. KSC scored three times in the final ten minutes of the half, with Haile Ratajack picking up her hat trick goal in that span, giving KSC the 11-0 lead heading into the break.
The second half became more of the same for the Owls as they were able to dominate much of play. Colby-Sawyer's offense came alive midway through the second half, as Sarah Morin was awarded a free-position opportunity. Morin took her stride but was denied by the goalkeeping of Haley Terva, who replaced Koziara to start the second half. Terva denied the Colby-Sawyer's Sydney Stevens twice within a span of 30 seconds, keeping the Chargers at bay. Terva came away with four saves total in the contest.
Keene State picked up the first 14 goals of the contest, including three in the second half to secure their first victory of the season for the Owls. Megan Gorham found the back of the net for the second time of the season in the second half, followed by more scoring from Brigid Casey and Haile Ratajack who both tallied four goals in the contest. Keene State defeated Colby-Sawyer for the ninth straight time by taking down the Chargers 14-1.
