How it Happened
For the second regular season game in a row, the Owls got the opening goal this time from junior

Haile Ratajack giving the Owls the early 1-0 lead. Keene State's lead would be short lived, as Western Connecticut would storm back with four straight goals putting the Owls in the early hole, one which they were unable to dig themselves out of for the remainder of the contest. Western's Caroline Galligan found twine twice in that span, both unassisted tallies to give West Conn the edge. KSC would come back with the next goal of the game as the Owls leading goal scorer through two games this season
Haile Ratajack fired a goal past goalkeeper Anna Schipf, cutting the Owls deficit to just two goals.
West Conn would score the final two goals of the first half, as Alexa Riggio would score twice in the half, giving Western the 6-2 edge going into the break. Keene State would put together 12 shots in the first half, while West Conn took 16 shots. The Owls goalkeeper
Haley Terva turned aside ten shots in the first half. West Conn quickly opened the second half with a hat trick goal from Caroline Galligan, followed by the third of the afternoon for Alexa Riggio giving West Conn the 8-2 advantage. Ratajack would tally a mark with a player up, breaking a string of five straight for Western Connecticut giving the Owls their third goal of the afternoon, while Ratajack would score her second. GK
Haley Terva came up with multiple saves in the second half, keeping the Owls within striking distance, including coming up with a free position shot save on West Conn's Victoria Gracy.
Western Connecticut State would score the next three goals of the contest, giving them a commanding 12-3 lead. Ratajack and Casey would both find the back of the net for Owls in the final four minutes of the contest but West Conn's early and often offense was too much for the Owls attack, as the Owls were defeated by West Conn 13-5, marking their second consecutive loss to Western Connecticut after previously beating them in 17 consecutive contests.
Inside the Crease
- Caroline Galligan led all goal scorers on the afternoon netting a game high six for Western Connecticut. Galligan's six goal tally is a career best, after having a previous high total of five goals in four separate contests through her career with WCSU.
- Keene's Haile Ratajack led the way for the Owls picking up another multi-goal game. Ratajack now has eight goals and three assists on the young season. In today's contest Ratajack also scooped seven ground balls, caused four turnovers and took three free position shots.
- In total, Keene State came away with 20 shots on the afternoon, scooping 17 ground balls and winning seven draw controls. Keene's Haley Terva turned aside 17 shots from West Conn, picking up a career high number in saves.
- KSC has dropped two straight to Western Connecticut after 17 straight victories from 2006-2018. This is the first multiple game losing streak for the Owls against West Conn in the sport.
