How it Happened
Keene State never trailed in this one, going up 2-0 in the early minutes with goals from
Hannah Dworkin and Ratajack in the first period. After USM tied it with markers from Kiaya Gatchell and Kate Colvin, Dworkin and Ratajack combined twice in the final seconds of the period to give KSC a 4-2 lead.
The Huskies' pair of Colvin and Gatchell would tie it again early in the second quarter, only to see the Owls go in front for good, as
Jackie DeAngelis fed Dworkin with 6:14 left and then scored herself as the Owls led 6-5 at the break.
Keene State exploded in the third quarter, finding the net of five of the first six scoring occasions, including three by
Mindy St. Marie to open up an 11-6 lead. USM got within three on Jennifer Darasz' goal with 2:55 left in the quarter, but the Owls kept pouring it on, opening up an 18-10 lead on a goal from St. Marie with 3:40 left in the game.
In all, seven different players scored for the Owls, while
Haley Terva made eight saves in the KSC net.
