NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass.--Junior
Jacob Pearl won the 1,500 meters at the Little East Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships at UMass Dartmouth on Saturday afternoon.
Men's Highlights
- Jacob Pearl raced to the LEC Championship in the 1,500 meters, finishing in 4:04.37, nipping UMass Dartmouth's Steve Stromski by just .60 seconds. He becomes the 10th different KSC athlete to win the 1,500 at the outdoor championships, joining Matt Kocyba (1998), Scott Jensen (1999), Mark Miller (2000, 2001, 2003), David Bridgewater (2002, 2004), Ryan Gough (2005), Chris Hopkins (2006), Craig MacPherson (2009), Peter Najem (2010), and Ryan Widzgowski (2013, 2014).
- Pearl was also second in the 800 meters in 1:59.19.
- Sam Hennedy was fourth in the 400 hurdles in 59.47
- Rob St. Laurent was second in the 3,000 meter steeplechase in 10:02.07.
- Dawson Hamele, Ted Rockwell, Hennedy, and Pearl comprised the 4x400 meter relay team that finished fourth in 3:34.03.
- Zander Egervari, Ben Harley, St. Laurent, and Peter Daugherty-Miller made up the 4x800 meter relay team that was fourth in 8:57.02.
- Hamele was fifth in the high jump at 1.80 meters.
- Keene State was seventh ouf of eight participating teams with 40 points. UMass Dartmouth won the team championship with 155 points.
Women's Highlights
- Shannon Parks was second in the shot put at 12.12 meters. She was also fifth in the discus at 32.88 meters and sixth in the hammer at 41.40 meters.
- Mary Meagher was fifth in the javelin at 32.02 meters.
- Aurora Couto was sixth in the 800 meters at 2:37.23, and fifth in the 1,500 meters at 5:20.36.
- Grace Furlong was fourth in the 5,000 meters in 19:36.05.
- Hannah Jones was second in the 10,000 meters in 42:36.83.
- Sara Ames, Sara Christian, Couto, and Juliana Yialiades were second in the 4x800 meter relay in 11:02.06.
- Keene State was sixth out of eight teams, with 36 points. Southern Maine claimed the team championship with 207 points.
Select qualified members of the KSC track and field team will take part in the New England Division III Championships at Williams College on May 7.
