ROXBURY, Mass.--Senior
Maggie St. John posted a second place finish and was first among all Division III runners at the Suffolk Invitational at Franklin Park on Saturday morning.
Women's Highlights
St. John finished the 6k course in 23:02.8, only behind Assumption's Franciscah Cherotich, and a full five seconds ahead of the next competitor.Â
Sarah Ames was next, in 24:02.2 for 28th place, followed by
Anna O'Reilly (24:30.0),
Aurora Couto (59th, 25:13.7),
Alana Perry (77th, 25:42.3),
Sara Christian (95th, 26:29.9), as well as
Alyssa Edgren (99th, 28:40.0),
Anna Bentley (111th, 27:16.7),
Maya Wedge (119th, 27:34.1), and
Juliana Yialiades (130th, 28:06.4).
The Owls were fifth overall with 171 points; Colby College won the team event with 62 points.

Freshman
Tyler Bolaske was the first Owl over the line on the 8k course, in 41st place in 26:58.6. Classmate
Griffin Urnezis was next, in 49th for 27:13.4, and behind him was
Marty Nelligan (79th, 27:53.0),
Tyler Robinson (119th, 29:00.9),
Nathan Giordano (123rd, 29:07.0),
Ben Harley (159th, 30:05.9), and
Alex Labrecque (31:28.8).
Landen Vaillencourt of UMass Lowell was the individual medalist in 25:24.0. Colby won the team event with 38 points.
"Today's meet has set us up well for the LEC championship in two weeks," said head coach
Dan Roark. "We had some breakout races on both sides and we are looking forward to championship racing."
The Owls are off until October 28, when they will host the Little East Conference championships for the first time since 2017 at the Owl Athletic Complex. Keene State is looking to defend the women's championship, led by St. John, Couto, and O'Reilly, who were All-Conference performers in 2022 as the Owls won their 19th LEC title.
