Parks Breaks Hammer Record at UMass Lowell Invite

LOWELL, Mass.--Fifth year Shannon Parks broke the school record in the hammer throw as the outdoor track and field season began for Keene State College at the UMass Lowell Invitational over the weekend.

Women's Highlights

Parks was third overall in the hammer, throwing 46.30 meters to break a five year old record previously held by Melissa Wydra. Parks was also seventh in the shot put at 11.53 meters.
Maggie St. John was 12th in the 800 meters in 2:32.42.
Grace Furlong was 20th in the 3,000 meters in 10:56.15.
Molly Lu McKellar was ninth in the 100 meter hurdles in 16.73.
Savannah Soleau was ninth in the shot put at 10.87 meters, and fifth in the javelin at 35.34 meters.

Men's Highlights

Dawson Hamele was 12th in the 400 meters in 54.58.
Jacob Pearl was fifth in the 1,500 meters in 4:02.84.
Tristan Berg was fifth in the high jump at 1.81 meters.
Aidan Law was fifth in the long jump at 6.76 meters.
Kyle Maruca was seventh in the discus at 44.10 meters.
Eric Carlo was 12th in the javelin at 42.98 meters.

The meet was split into a two day affair due to impending inclement weather in the New England area on Saturday. The remainder of the meet will resume on March 26. Watch this space for updates.
