Mindy St. Marie scored both goals for the Keene State women's lacrosse team as the Owls lost their season opener to Connecticut College 18-2 Sunday at Silfen Field.

How it Happened
Both of St. Marie's goals came in the first half for the Owls. The co-captain, who was named to the All-Little East Conference Second Team in 2022, got her first goal at the 4:10 mark in the first quarter off a free position shot. The other goal came with 8:37 remaining in the second quarter after she spun around several defenders before firing the ball into the net.
The Camels of Connecticut College controlled much of the game. CC jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first quarter and went into halftime up 13-2. In the second half, the Camels added five more goals while their defense shut down the Owls. Keene State finished the game with nine shots, seven on goal. Senior attacker Hailey Fahey led CC with three goals, while five other players scored two goals each.
Inside the Crease
- This is the third time these two teams have met, and the first since March 4, 2020.
- St. Marie led the Owls with four shots, three of which were on goal. Senior attacker Jackie DeAngelis and freshman attacker Tess Brown each had two shots. Both of Brown's shots were on goal, while DeAngelis had one.
- Sophomore midfielder Amethyst Phelps also recorded a shot on goal for the Owls.
- Freshman goalkeeper Sarah Howe made nine saves and led the team with four ground balls in her collegiate debut.
