KEENE, N.H. – Keene State looked to pick up their first win in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate program history Thursday night against Seton Hall. After dropping the first round, it seemed that the Owls would come back and force a round three, but Seton Hall would close the door and not allow it, taking a 2-0 series win in the contest.

How it Happened


Seton Hall came out of the gates hot, only losing three stocks over the first round. Slattery, using Link, was able to take the first stock from Seton Hall's Bowser, after Bowser took all three of Thegingerlad's stocks for KSC and two of Link's before finally losing a stock. When KSC was down to their final stock from Sour, they were able to take Bowser's other two remaining stocks, but Luigi would come in and finish the job for the Pirates, as Seton Hall took the first round with nine stocks remaining.
 
In the second round, KSC would lose their first three stocks from the Gingerlad, but he was able to take one of Falco's stocks from Seton Hall. Sour was able to even the stocks out at nine apiece after taking Falco's other two stocks without losing one of his own. For the first time in program history, KSC took a lead in stocks, as Sour took all three of Inklings' stocks, and only lost one, as KSC held an 8-6 stock lead. Sour was able to take another two stocks from Seton Hall's Toon Link, before losing one stock of his own and then taking Toon Link's final stock as KSC held a 7-3 stock lead and looked to close out their first-round win in program history. R.O.B. closed out Sour and took all three of Tadpole's stocks, as Tadpole was only able to take one of R.O.B.'s and KSC leaned on their last player, Slattery with three stocks, to R.O.B.'s two to close out the second round. R.O.B. was able to take care of business and close the round out, not losing a stock to Slattery, as Seton Hall held on for the series win, 2-0, with two stocks remaining in round two.
