How it Happened
The Owls dominated in game one, Control on Lijiang Tower, winning the round 2-0. The Owls were able to start to capture the opening point first, thanks to four eliminations from the Owls, as Hoodnut picked up a pair of eliminations, while Tut and Midas each logged one. KSC ended up taking the first point, without WPU controlling it at all, as Shadowstorm, Hootnut, and Tut each picked up an elimination, while Midas had two in the closing seconds of the Owls securing the point. WPU started to secure the point first as they looked to make a comeback, down 1-0 in the best of three for game one, but they were only able to reach 42% of the point secured, before Tut and Midas each got an elimination, allowing for the Owls to start to capture the point. WPU regained the point after the Owls reached 31%, thanks to four eliminations for the Pacers. The Owls answered back with four more eliminations of their own, with Hoodnut getting a pair and one from each Tut and Sweptfive gave the Owls the point back, stopping the Pacers at 81%. For the third time in the round, WPU recaputured the point as KSC only reached 58%, as they tried to even the round out at one apiece. KSC ended up stopping WPU at 99% as Tut recorded three eliminations and Sweptfive tallied a pair (one being from their ultimate), giving KSC the point back. After the Owls held off another push from the Pacers, due to three eliminations from Sweptfive, and one from each Hoodnut, Midas, and Tut, KSC captured the second point, giving them the 2-0 game one win, for their first map one win on the season.
Keene State started game two off hot, as they captured the first point of Hybrid on King's Row in less than a minute, as they got a team kill, coming from a pair of eliminations from Shadowstorm and one from each, Tut, Hoodnut, and Midas. The Owls continued to dominate their opening push, as they reached the checkpoint un under two minutes, thanks to three eliminations from Hoodnut and one from each Tut and Midas. The Owls continued to roll the Pacers, as they pushed the payload to the objective with 6:03 still on the clock, thanks to numerous eliminations form KSC, including three from Hoodnut (two from their ultimate), three from Tut (two from their ultimate), a pair from Midas and one from Shadowstorm. Due to the league rules if a match is played on the wrong ruleset, then the hosting team would forfeit the round. As WPU was the hosting team for the round, although the Owls won the opening round on the attack, they would not need to try to defend from the Pacers' attack, as WPU had to forfeit the round, due to the wrong ruleset being in play. With the forfeit, KSC took the 2-0 lead in the match, as they looked for the sweep in game three.
Game three was Flashpoint on Suravasa, where both teams raced to be the first to capture three of five objective points. The Owls easily captured the first objective by eliminating nine Pacers, including three eliminations from Tut and Midas, a pair Hoodnut, and one from Shadowstorm. The second point was captured by the Owls quickly once again, thanks to 10 eliminations, with three coming from each Shadowstorm and Sweptfive, a pair coming from Midas, and one from each Tut and Hoodnut. KSC began to capture the third point thanks to a team kill as Shadowstorm picked up a pair of eliminations, and Midas, Tut, and Sweptfive each logged one, as well. Thanks to a pair of team kills from the Owls, with Sweptfive logging four eliminations, and a pair from each Hoodnut, Midas, and Tut, the Owls easily secured the third point in the round, clinching the 3-0 win, without allowing for WPU to secure the objective at all in the round. With the game win, KSC picked up the match win for the first time in program history.
