KSC Overwatch 2 Team Falls in NACE Starleague Divisional Quarterfinals to Nichols College, 3-0

KEENE, N.H. – The Keene State College Overwatch 2 Esports team looked to pick up a win in the NACE Starleague Divisional Quarterfinal Playoffs, just as the KSC Rocket League team had done in the previous night. Although for the Owls, they were going up against a tough Nichols College team, and they would fall, 3-0 to the Bison in the matchup.

How it Happened

The first game was Control on Lijiang Tower, and the Owls were able to take control of the opening point first, as Hoodnut tallied a pair of eliminations, to go with one from each Midas, Shadowstorm, and Tut. KSC was able to reach 35% before the Bison recorded a team kill to secure the point, along with another team kill to hold KSC off, as NC reached 100% on the first point to give them 1-0 round advantage in the best of three. The Owls were once again able to start to capture the second point first, but they only reached 53% before the Bison were able to take control of the point. KSC was able to sneak in and take the point from NC, stopping them at 89% of the point secured. After reaching 73%, the Bison retook the point and reached 100%, as they picked up the game one win, 2-0.

Game two was Hybrid on King's Row and the Owls were able to secure the first objective with 50 seconds remaining, thanks to a pair of eliminations from each Hoodnut and Midas, to go with one from Sweptfive. The Owls were able to reach the checkpoint with the payload as time was expiring, as Hoodnut logged six eliminations over the timeframe, along with three from Midas and one from each Sweptfive and Tut. Unfortunately for the Owls, they were stopped by the Bison, after their extra 90 seconds were added on, as they reached 29.13m. On NC's turn on the attack, they were able to secure the opening point in just 50 seconds, and after passing the checkpoint shortly after, they surpassed the Owls' mark, giving them the game win and 2-0 series lead.

In game three, Flashpoint on New Junk City, NC began to secure the first objective, but they only reached 22% before KSC began to capture it, thanks to two eliminations from Midas and one from Shadowstorm. NC retook the position after KSC reached 43%, and they captured the first objective in the best of five game mode. The Bison started to capture the second objective, and they almost completely secured it before the Owls were able to gain any control, but KSC stopped them at 78%, as Tut and Midas each tallied a pair of eliminations, along with one from Hoodnut to complete the team kill on NC. The Owls went all the way with the second objective, not letting the Bison control it again, tying the game up at one apiece. NC was able to cleanly secure the third objective, without KSC securing it at all, as they took a 2-1 game lead. The Bison were also able to cleanly secure the fourth objective, which gave them the game three win, and sealed the series victory for Nichols, 3-0.
