NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass.—Grace Furlong became the first person in seven years to repeat as 10,000 meter champion at the Little East Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships at UMass Dartmouth on Saturday.
Men's Highlights
- Tyler Bolaske earned Second Team All-Conference in the 1,500 meters, finishing in 4:06.32.
- Griffin Urnezis earned Second Team All-Conference in the steeplechase, in 9:53.13.
- Kyle Maruca earned Second Team All-Conference in the shot put, throwing 45.90 meters, and in the discus, throwing 48.05 meters.
- Marty Nelligan was fifth in the 10,000 meters, in 34:59.06.
- Sam Hennedy was fourth in the 400 hurdles in 57.36.
- Dawson Hamele was fourth in the 400 hurdles in 59.44.
- Aidan Law was fifth in the long jump at 6.70 meters.
- Eden Damis was fourth in the triple jump at 12.99 meters.
- Matthew St. John was fifth in the discus at 38.04 meters.
- The men finished fifth out of eight teams with 58 points.
Women's Highlights
- Furlong won the 10,000 meters in 39:19.35, taking the race by nearly 40 seconds and repeating as LEC champion after winning the event in 2023. Furlong is just the fourth person in school history to win the 10,000 meters at the LEC Championships, joining Lauren Perkowski (2019), Erin Crawford (2011), and Sophie Holly (2006).
- Aurora Couto was Second Team All-LEC in the steeplechase, in 11:55.03, which also qualified her for the New England Division III championships.
- Couto, Anna O'Reilly, Bryn Dickinson, and Sarah Ames were Second Team All-LEC in the 4x800 meter relay in 10:31.91.
- Carlie Cronin was Second Team All-LEC in the pole vault, jumping 3.10 meters to set a new school record. The previous mark of 3.05 meters was set by Christina Borbonneau in 2007.
- Maggie St. John was third in the 1,500 meters, in 5:03.09, and earned Second Team All-LEC in the 5,000 meters in 18:50.92.
- Syriah McCruse was fourth in the 100 meters, in 12.96 seconds.
- Anna O'Reilly was fourth in the 1,500 meters in 5:07.35.
- Molly Lu McKellar was third in the 100 hurdles in 17.28 and fourth in the 400 hurdles in 1:11.57.
- Emily O'Connell was fourth in the javelin, throwing 31.96 meters.
- The women finished fifth out of eight teams with 76 points.
"We were competitive all day and came home with a lot of second and third places." said KSC head coach
Dan Roark. "This will put us in good position going forward for next year but we are a few events clicking the right way to move up in that next tier in the LEC. I think we had a lot of young athletes gain valuable championship experience, but think we are better than fifth on both sides."
