PROVIDENCE, R.I.— Just as she has done for most of her previous four years for the Keene State College women's lacrosse team, fifth-year attack
Haile Ratajack led the Owls on offense, with seven points coming from five goals and a pair of assists in the Owls' 18-0 obliteration of Rhode Island College on Saturday morning. Not only did Ratajack surpass 200 career goals for the Owls in the win, she also moved into first place in career goals scored in program history, with 203 goals and counting.

How it Happened
The Owls opened the first 15 minutes of play with 10 goals, the most in a quarter thus far in their 2024 season.
Lola Smith opened the scoring for the Owls, 1:30 into the game, on a free position goal, and
Haile Ratajack picked up an assist on
Mindy St. Marie's goal just 33 seconds later to put the Owls up a pair. Ratajack scored goal number 199, 1:58 later, and career goal number 200, which was assisted by St. Marie, only 34 seconds after her previous. With the goal, Ratajack joined Michelle Mason (202 career goals) as the only two members in program history to surpass 200 career goals. Fiona Baxter made her first save of the game for RIC on a free position shot on
Hannah Dworkin, with 10:45 in the quarter, but Dworkin would pick up the assist on the Owls' next goal from Smith, 50 seconds later. Goals six and seven for the Owls came from
Tess Brown (assisted by
Amethyst Phelps) and St. Marie (on a free position goal), respectively, to put KSC up 7-0 with 8:09 in the first quarter. With 6:14 left in the opening quarter,
Mabelle Bessette saved a shot attempt in goal for the Owls, on what would be the Anchorwomen's only shot in the first. Ratajack tallied goal number 201, thanks to an assist and caused turnover from Dworkin, with 4:41 left in the quarter. With the assist by Dworkin, she moved in to third place in career assist in program history, with 83. Just over a minute later, Ratajack scored a free position goal to not only tie the career goals record in program history, with 202, but also move into a tie with Chelsea Lewis for the most free position goals scored in a career, with 30. The final goal of the quarter came from Ratajack causing a turnover, which led to Dworkin picking up an assist on another goal from Smith, to put KSC up 10-0 heading into the second.
Baxter made a pair of saves to open the second quarter, but following a caused turnover by Ratajack, Phelps scored a man-up free position goal, 2:33 into the quarter for the Owls. Baxter made another pair of saves across the next 8:57 of the quarter, Ratajack caused another turnover for KSC, that resulted in
Hayden Smith scoring a man-up goal, from Dworkin, with 3:30 remaining in the opening half. Following St. Marie winning the ensuing draw control,
Hayden Smith tallied another goal, this time from
Alexis Phyllides, to put the Owls ahead 13-0 heading into the second half.
Makennah McPherson opened the scoring a minute into the third quarter, off an assist from Ratajack, for her first career collegiate goal. Then 1:29 later, the two reversed roles, as McPherson assisted Ratajack for the goal, which put her into first place in the all-time scoring list for the Owls, with career goal number 203. Ratajack's goal also gave her seven points on the day, making her career point total 250 (203 goals, 47 assists); this ties Jill Kirk (182 goals, 68 assists) for the third most career points in program history. With five minutes remaining in the quarter, Dworkin scored her third goal for the Owls, to put them up 16-0. After entering at the start of the second half,
Sarah Howe made a save in net for the Owls on her only shot that she faced in the third quarter, with 3:03 remaining. Soon after,
Annaliese Rudberg scored with 1:22 remaining to put KSC up 17-0 heading into the final 15 minutes of play.
After entering at halftime, Gianna Franco made three saves to open the fourth quarter, but she was unable to save the fourth shot, as Phyllides caused a turnover that led to
Chase Gengras assisting Dworkin for a goal with 6:56 remaining in the contest. Both teams traded possessions the rest of the way and each goalkeeper made a save, which kept the final score 18-0 for the Owls.
Inside the Crease
- With the win, the Owls remain a perfect 27-0 in the all-time series between the two schools.
- The Owls 18-0 win was the first shutout in over 21 years, as the last time they shut a team out was back on April 3, 2003, at Salem State University, when the Owls won 22-0.
- Ratajack continues to move up the career record book in program history. - St. Marie finished with a game-high of seven draw control wins. Now with 186 career draw control wins, St. Marie is currently tied with Kaitlin Nolan for the third most draw control wins in program history.
- Dworkin was right behind Ratajack in the lead for points in the game, as she finished with six points, coming from a pair of goals and four assists in the KSC win.
- 61.1% (11 of 18) members of the Owls' team that played in the game, tallied at least a point in the contest today.
- The Owls outshot the Anchorwomen, 34-4, and won 17 draw controls, to just four from RIC.
- KSC went 12-14 on clears, compared to 9-26 from RIC.
