CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Three Owls aimed for NCAA marks as the Keene State College outdoor track and field team closed their season at the MIT Final Qualifier at the Morrison Track on Thursday.
Kyle Maruca, who threw the discus a school-record 50.87 meters this past weekend at the NEICAAA (All-New England) Invitational, was aiming to finish in the top 20 in the event and earn an NCAA bid. Today, he finished third at the event with a mark of 49.05 meters on his second of six attempts (one foul). Sam Engebretson (MIT) finished first with a 51.74 meter throw and David Brown (Amherst) second, throwing 49.40 meters.
Also participating were Sam Hennedy, who ran the 400 hurdles in 58.10 for a ninth-place finish and
Aidan Law, who was ninth in the long jump at 6.55 meters. Cortez Garrett of RPI won the 400 hurdles in 53.31 and Henry Brandstadter the long jump in 7.35 meters.
