KEENE, N.H. – Keene State College Varsity Esports wrapped up its first full week of competition during the week of October 27th, going a combined 5-2 across its six teams. Keene State Esports is a Varsity member of PlayVS College League (PCL). Formerly known as Playfly College Esports, PCL is one of the largest governing bodies of collegiate esports competition in the world. Divisions of play are divided into two categories: Premier and Ranked, with Premier being the highest level of play PCL offers. Premier competition includes scholarships and in-person end-of-season tournaments (known as LAN's). KSC's Varsity Rocket League and Overwatch 2 teams are designated for PCL Premier while KSC VALORANT, Academy Red and Black, and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate will compete in PCL Ranked.

Keene State Rocket League

KSC Varsity Rocket League closed out their regular season versus the University of South Florida on Tuesday evening.

Game 1: Andrew "Aurorxs" Sorcinelli got KSC on the board with a goal assisted by Jack "Jackattack16000" Manning at 0:44. USF answered back quickly as Moxas tied the game at 0:47. At 2:32, USF scored their second goal of the game to take the lead as Yagami scored unassisted. USF carried this lead into the final seconds until Alex "normal" Nimiroski scored off an assisted by Jackattack to tie the game. A sudden-death overtime was triggered as time expired. The Owls completed the comeback as Jackattack scored a game winning goal just 13 seconds into the period to win the first game 3-2, taking a 1-0 series lead.

Game 2: Normal grabbed the lead early for KSC as he scored 10 seconds into regulation, assisted by Jackattack off the kickoff. Andrew "Aurorxs" Sorcinelli scored next for the Owls to put them up 2-0 at 0:50. Moxas brought the game within one point, scoring for USF at 3:17. Yagami then scored at 3:34 to tie the game at two goals a piece. As time expired, Jackattack scored an unorthodox goal as the ball was moments from hitting the ground and triggering overtime. This gave KSC another 3-2 game victory and a 2-0 series lead.

Game 3: Yagami nabbed an early lead for USF with a goal at 0:47, and added a second at 1:15 to put South Florida up 2-0. Normal scored KSC's first goal of the game at 1:34, assisted by Jackattack. Jackattack then scored himself at 3:04 across the entire field, to tie the game at two. The 2-2 score remained and overtime began. After 24 seconds, Yagami scored his third goal of the game to win; a third 3-2 finish in the series and the first in favor of South Florida. KSC remained up 2-1 in the best of three series going into game four.

Game 4: After scoring all three of their team's goals in the previous game, Yagami got right back to work against the Owls, scoring a goal off the kickoff just eight seconds into game four. Jackattack tied the game for Keene State at 2:13, assisted by Aurorxs. Yagami responded for South Florida immediately, as they scored an unassisted goal at 2:27 to regain the lead at 2-1 for USF. The Bulls held onto this lead and tied the series at two wins per team, necessitating a series-deciding fifth game.

Game 5: Moxas got USF on the board first with an unassisted goal at 2:03 to take a 1-0 lead. Moxas then scored their second and third goals at 2:25 and 2:31 to give the Bulls a 3-0 lead with half of regulation time remaining. Normal got KSC on the board at 2:39 to stop USF's momentum at a 3-1 score, but this would be all they had left. USF scored two more goals at 4:17(Yagami) and 4:58 (Yagami) to take a 5-2 lead as time expired. USF completed a reverse sweep of KSC and won the series overall 3-2.

What's next: KSC Varsity Rocket League closed out their regular season with a 3-4 record. Needing a top three finish in their division to qualify for playoffs, they finished fifth. KSC Varsity Rocket League will return to PCL Premier play for the Spring 2026 season.

KSC Rocket League Academy Red
KSC Rocket League Academy Red (3-3) did not compete this past week. Their final game of the season comes against Radford University B on Tuesday, November 4th at 8:30 PM EST.

KSC Rocket League Academy Black participated in two games on Tuesday night against Wilmington College and Seminole State College of Florida.

Vs. Wilmington College

Game 1: Radam scored first for WC, at 0:53. Hugedady42 scored at 1:12 to put Wilmington up 2-0. With one minute and three seconds remaining, Adam "Stylobiko" Albik scored KSC's first goal of the series, assisted by Owen "Slend" Burrill, which put KSC within one goal of tying the game. Wilmington were able to hold, however, and won 2-1 to take a 1-0 series lead.

Game 2: Slend got KSC going in game two, breaking a near-two minute stalemate with a goal at 1:47, assisted by Joe "Julio" Aste. Julio provided his first goal of the series at 2:04 to put KSCN up 2-0 with less than three minutes remaining. Radam then scored WC's first goal of the game off of the ensuing kickoff to bring the score to 2-1. Off of that next ensuing kickoff, Stylobiko scored for KSC to give them a 3-1 lead. The Owls peppered in two more unanswered goals as Slend (2:30) and Julio (4:14) brought KSC to a 5-1 game victory, tying the series at one win each.

Game 3: Julio scored first in the game, assisted by Slend at 1:07, and a second time at 1:59 to put the Owls up 2-0. Hugedady scored for Wilmington at 2:59 to cut the lead in half. Stylobiko brought the lead back up to two with 37 seconds remaining. Shortly thereafter, Radam scored an unassisted goal to bring the game back to just a one score lead with 28 seconds remaining. As time was about to expire, Stylobiko scored his second goal of the game to give the Owls a 4-2 lead and subsequently a 2-1 series lead.

Game 4: KSC Academy Black held full control of the fourth game, winning 5-0. Scores came from Stylobiko (0:25, 1:24, 3:25) and Julio (2:51, 3:32), driving the Owls to a 3-1 series victory and improving to 5-0 on the season.

Vs. Seminole State College of Florida

Game 1: In their second game of the night, RL Academy Black took on SSC. Xan got SSC the first goal of the series at 2:13 to take a 1-0 lead. This 1-0 score held for the remainder of the game until 4:48 when Xan scored a second time as SSC won 2-0 and grabbed a 1-0 series lead.

Game 2: Julio struck first, scoring unassisted at 0:38, giving KSC a 1-0 lead. Xan tied the game at 1:56, and scored a second time to give SSC the lead at 2:23. Julio scored his second goal of the game at 2:27, assisted by Slend. Slend contributed his first goal of the series off of the next kickoff, giving the Owls a 3-2 lead with half of regulation remaining. Xan re-tied the game at 4:10, and the 3-3 score carried into overtime. After an overtime period lasting two minutes and five seconds, Dash scored the game winning goal for SSC to give them a 4-3 victory and a 2-0 series lead.

Game 3: After over two minutes of scoreless play, Xan got SSC going with a goal at 2:21. Xan extended their team's lead to 2-0 at 3:35, assisted by Dash. Slend got KSC back within one score with a goal at 3:38, assisted by Slend. Wheels scored their first goal of the series at 4:09 to put SSC up 3-1 with 51 seconds left. Stylobiko scored at 4:36 to bring the game within one goal again, but KSC were unable to complete the comeback, with Seminole State College of Florida winning the game 3-2 and winning the series overall 3-0, handing KSC Rocket League Academy Black their first loss of the season.

What's next: KSC Rocket League Academy Black completes their regular season on Tuesday November 4th with a doubleheader. At 7 PM, they will take on fellow 5-1 squad Columbia International University. At 8:30 PM they will close out their regular season against 3-2 Cornell Big Red.

KSC Overwatch finished up their regular season against the 2-3 University of Texas - Tyler on Wednesday night. The game was broadcast live on PCL's official Twitch channel.
Map 1: Oasis
UTT won the opening coin toss and selected Oasis as the Control map for map 1. After Shea "Hotpocket" Castriotta, as Hazard, eliminated UT Tyler's Liveweaver player early, the Owls assumed early holding of the point, and held it all the way to 100%, not allowing UT Tyler to secure it. In the second round of Control, KSC once again secured the Control point first and held it to 88% completion. UT Tyler regained momentum at this time and slowed the Owls down in the midpoint of the round. However, following an elimination on UTT's Kiriko following a Pulse Bomb by Eli "Goofymcgoob" Volpini, the Owls took the point back after UTT secured 38%. KSC would hold and win point two with a 100-38% score, winning the first map 2-0 and taking a 1-0 series lead.

Map 2: Kings Row
Since UT Tyler lost Oasis, they were permitted to select the Hybrid map for the following game, selecting fan-favorite Kings Row. Keene State started on attack and had four minutes to secure the control point to begin advancing the payload cart. Led by Tank Matt "Midas" Bonner as Winston, the Owls overwhelmed UT Tyler and captured the control point in just one minute and eleven seconds. The Owls maintained momentum after this. UT Tyler temporarily stymied their payload push after the capture, but KSC rolled through point two and unlocked point three with five minutes and 12 seconds to go. UT Tyler performed admirably at this point, as they held Keene State at bay for over five minutes and disallowed them from taking point three and finishing the map. KSC progressed the payload 45.76 meters towards the final point.

On defense, the Owls performed rocksteadily. KSC did not allow UT Tyler to take the opening control point for the four minutes allotted to UTT, and as such, won the map by a 2-0 score and secured a 2-0 series lead heading into map 3.

Map 3:
UTT selected Suravasa as the Flashpoint destination for map 3. UT Tyler captured the flashpoint first and rode it all the way to 100% completion without allowing KSC to gain any progress. On the second point, the Owls made two key hero swaps: Midas swapping from Winston to Orisa, and team captain Korben "ShadowStorm" Robinson from Moira to Brigitte. These two swaps would assist KSC in swinging momentum back.

The second point on Suravasa was especially scrappy with both teams trading control back and forth. For the Owls, allowing UTT to secure this one would put them down 2-0 in this first-to-three game mode and make a comeback extremely difficult. UTT secured 65% progress, but were unable to hold it, as KSC won the second point and tied the game at 1-1.

KSC was in full control of the third point, securing it 100%-0% and taking a 2-1 game lead. The fourth Flashpoint was inversely fully controlled by UTT; they didn't allow KSC to make any progress and the third map headed to a final control point where KSC could seal a series victory or UTT could force a map four.

Point five was the most intense of the entire series, both for its context in the matchup as well as the gameplay. Both teams came into the point with nearly all ultimate abilities available, and both teams traded control. In the final moments, KSC and UTT progressed the Flashpoint to 99% progress each. In the final teamfight, all Owls contributed heavily. Connor "HoodNut" Malone, as Venture, delivered first blood by eliminating UTT's Venture layer. Midas then eliminated UTT's Wuyang, Shadowstorm eliminated Sojourn, and Goofymcgoob eliminated Moira. UTT's final player was then eliminated which allowed KSC to secure 100% of the fifth point, giving them a 3-2 flashpoint victory and a 3-0 series sweep of UT Tyler.

What's next: KSC Overwatch completed their PCL Premier season at 3-3. Needing to finish top three in their division to make their playoff bracket, they finished in fourth. KSC Overwatch will return to PCL play in Spring 2026.

Keene State VALORANT battled Western Nebraska Community College on Monday evening.

Vs. Western Nebraska Community College

Map 1: Haven
The Owls, on their preferred map of Haven, took a 11-0 lead on attack, putting them just two more round victories away from winning the first map. On the final round of attack, WNCC took the round, bringing the map score to 11-1. WNCC would then take the next two rounds after sides switched, but the Owls recovered and won rounds 15 and 16 to win Haven by a score of 13-3 and taking a 1-0 series lead. Jeremy "yerrei" Giguere led the way for the Owls with 19 kills, closely behind was Thomas "Chumbladorfian" Czwakiel, with 17.

Map 2: The next map on the series was Split. The Owls, similarly to the previous map, started off extremely hot and took a 9-0 lead on defense. WNCC took round 10 to make it 9-1 in favor of KSC. The Owls would take the following four rounds and won Split by a map count of 13-1 and in doing so won the series 2-0 and improved to 6-0 on the season in PCL Ranked play. Team captain Hailey "HMeesh" Michaud was top frag in the lobby with 21 as Clove. Yerrei had the second most kills in the lobby as Sage, with 16.

Vs. West Chester University of Pennsylvania

Map 1: Corrode
West Chester started off on attack and both teams traded rounds back and forth to begin. After six rounds, both teams found themselves tied, but KSC began to pull away. KSC went on to win the next ten rounds in a row, including rounds 10 through 13 when sides changed and the Owls were on the attacking side. KSC won Corrode by a round score of 13-3 and took a 1-0 series lead. Hayden "H-Bass" Bassett led the way for Keene State with a game-leading 19 kills as Phoenix, followed by Gavin "Melatonin" Pierce with 16 as Raze. The three other Owls that started the game tallied 13 kills: Jeremy "yerrei" Giguere as Fade, captain Hailey "HMeesh" Michaud as Brimstone and Thomas "Chumbladorfian" Czwakiel as Yoru.

Map 2: Split
The second map saw the Owls and the Golden Rams duke it out on Split. West Chester would begin on attack yet again. KSC set the pace by taking an early 5-2 round lead, but West Chester would close the gap over the next few rounds and tie the game at the end of the 10th round. The Owls took round 11 to establish the lead again, and would eventually take seven out of the next eight rounds to win Split by a score of 13-6, resulting in a 2-0 series victory and improving to a perfect 7-0 record on the season with one regular season game remaining. H-Bass once again led all players in kills, dropping 30 as Phoenix; the most in a single game for KSC VALORANT in the Fall 2025 season. HMeesh as Clove and Chumbladorfian as Yoru tied for the second most kills in the lobby with 15.

What's next: KSC VALORANT has secured a playoff spot in their division.

KSC VALORANT will close out their regular season on Thursday November 6th against RIT Academy Yellow. The Owls look to join KSC Overwatch (Fall 2024  and Rocket League Academy (Fall 2024) as the third undefeated regular season team in program history.

Keene State Super Smash Bros. Ultimate battled Harrisburg University of Science and Technology at 9 PM on Halloween night.

Game 1:
Jackson "Jackabort27" Schimpf led off for the Owls as Steve against HU's first player as Pyra/Mythra. Both players alternated stocks with one another, until Jackabot emerged victorious with one stock remaining to put KSC up 10-9 with Harrisburg's second player coming on. That player selected Lucas and tied the game 9-9 as Jackabot failed to take a stock. Next for the Owls was Matt "Squidman" Silvestri as Mario. In a battle that lasted almost four minutes, Squidman would take the individual victory by eliminating all three of Lucas's stocks and keeping one of his own, which provided KSC with a 7-6 stock lead.

Harrisburg's third player entered as Piranha Plant. Working with just one stock, Squidman fought hard for the Owls and eliminated two of Piranha Plant's stocks before finally being taken out. Following this, KSC was up six stocks to four as Brody "Ph4r0h" Freehling entered as Min Min. Ph4r0h would take Piranha Plant's last stock while keeping all three of theirs, giving the Owls a comfortable 6-3 stock lead as HU sent in their final player as Palutena. An exciting back and forth scrap ensued with both players losing two stocks a piece. HU's Palutena narrowly defeated Ph4r0h despite having taken 122% damage to keep HU alive as KSC's team captain Aidan "Sour" Zimmer came in as Piranha Plant. HU's Palutena fought extremely admirably despite the 3-1 stock deficit, including striking first against Sour and taking a stock. However, KSC's stock advantage was too great and Sour eliminated Palutena's final stock, which gave the Owls a 2-0 stock victory over HU, resulting in a 1-0 series lead.

Game 2:
Jackabot27 went in first for KSC yet again, as Steve, and Harrisburg University led off with their Pyra/Mythra player again. Similarly to their first one on one battle in game one, both players traded control, and took two stocks a piece from one another. With both players retaining one stock, Jackabot managed to hit Pyra/Mythra for 52% damage before taking any himself which provided some cushion in the matchup. Jackabot won this matchup once again, defeating Pyra/Mythra once again one stock left and affording KSC an early 10-9 stock lead.

Next in for HU was their second player as Inkling. Despite holding just one stock, Jackabot played an expert game in this situation, and successfully three-stocked Inkling without losing his final stock. This gave KSC a lead of 10-6 as HU's captain, their Lucas player, entered. Jackabot was not able to take a stock from Lucas, and with his elimination, brought the score to 9-6 in favor of KSC. Squidman entered for the Owls as Mario to take on HU's Lucas; a battle that happened in game one as well. This time around, however, Lucas managed to defeat Squidman while only losing one stock. This brought the game score to just a 6-5 advantage for KSC. Ph4r0h came in for the Owls, once again as Min Min.

Ph4r0h halted the momentum HU's Lucas player had built up and took their last two stocks while retaining all two of theirs; giving KSC a 5-3 lead with HU's final player entering as Palutena. With two stocks to work with, Ph4r0h eliminated two of Palutena's stocks before being fully defeated. This gave Sour a 3-1 lead to work with as the Owls were one elimination away from victory. Sour defeated Palutena quickly in just 17 seconds after the start of combat; the result was a 3-0 game victory for KSC Super Smash Bros as they improved to a 4-1 record, the best start to a season in team history.

What's next: With a 4-1 record and a victory over Harrisburg University, the Owls have guaranteed a top four division finish and thus a playoff spot in their PCL Ranked division.

KSC SSBU look to improve to 5-1 on Monday, November 3rd against the 2-3 Golden Rams of West Chester University at 7 PM; they will then close out their regular season against 5-0 Emerson College on Friday, November 7th at 7 PM.
