After Leah Green scored the opening goal of the contest, 53 seconds into the game, FSU's second and third goals came from man-up opportunities as they jumped to a 3-0 lead. Following a KSC timeout and a save by Owls' goalkeeper

FSU converted on another man-up goal, this time coming from Molly Lanier, to open the scoring in the second half, 24 seconds into the action.
Katelyn Nicotera entered as goalkeeper for the Owls to open the second half and saved the next shot from the Rams, which led to KSC scoring a pair of goals on the other side of the field shortly after, with
Lola Smith assisting
Anna Maccarini and then scoring a goal herself to cut the Rams' lead to 10-6. Following Smith's goal 4:07 into the third, Nicotera saved three shots from the Rams the rest of the quarter, but FSU was able to score four more goals by the end of the third. Green and Lanier each tallied two goals apiece to give FSU a 14-6 lead heading into the final 15 minutes of play.
