GORHAM, Maine—The Keene State College softball team managed just five singles in two games, falling in both ends of a Little East Conference doubleheader at the University of Southern Maine, 6-2 and 8-0 at the USM Softball Field on Wednesday.

- Keene State: 12-10, 1-5 LEC
- Southern Maine: 11-13, 6-2 LEC
How it Happened
The Owls had five base runners in the opener, and went behind in the bottom of the first inning when Migliorin doubled to left field to score Delisle. It remained 1-0 until the bottom of the fourth, when Paradis doubled in two more runs, and it became 6-0 in the fifth as the Huskies took advantage of an error and a 2-run double by Renner.
Keene State struck back in the top of the sixth, as Olivia Souers and Elyse Picard reached base to set the table for Abby Weiterman, who rapped a single through the left side that brought in both runners.
Abbie Monkievicz had the third hit of the game for the Owls, while Lilah Demmy struck out three in 4.2 innings. Souers relieved and gave up just a single hit in 1.1 innings of work.
The bats continued to be silent in the nightcap, getting just singles from Liv Whitter and Molly Murray, while Kalle Halvorsen's third inning walk represented the only other baserunner of the game for KSC. Both singled came in the second inning.
"We didn't play the defense we are capable of today and we struggled to get into a rhythm at the plate," said KSC head coach Haley Chandler. "USM's pitchers threw well and their offense backed them up. But nothing changes if nothing changes, so we will need to do things differently. Tomorrow is a new opportunity to do that, so on to the next."
Already leading 1-0, the Huskies got a bases loaded double from Dufresne in the third inning and a three run homer from Migliorin in the fourth to pad their lead. Carissa Miller took the loss, allowing four runs (all unearned) in three innings.
