Giordano Named LEC Outdoor Rookie Track Athlete of the Year

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Little East Conference (LEC) announced its annual women's outdoor track & field awards Wednesday, following a vote to determine the major award recipients by the LEC's head coaches. All-conference teams were determined based on performance at the 2025 LEC Outdoor Track & Field championships, which were hosted at the University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth Sunday.
 
Track Athlete of the Year: Aryianna Garceau, UMass Boston
  • Won the 100 hurdles (13.81), 100 dash (11.91) and 200 dash (24.27) at the 2025 LEC Outdoor Championships.
  • Her time in the 100 hurdles set a new LEC Championship Record.
  • Her 200 dash time from the LEC Championships ranks 13th in NCAA Division III this season, while her 100 dash time from the conference meet ranks 21st in the nation.
  • She ranks second in NCAA Division III in the 100 hurdles with a time of 13.80 seconds turned in at the Mark Young Invitational.
  • She ranks No. 1 in New England in the 100 hurdles and 200 dash, and is fourth in the 100 dash.
Field Athlete of the Year: Zoe Barnes, Southern Maine
  • Won the discus (45.56m) and shot put (13.29m) at the 2025 LEC Outdoor Championships, while placing fourth in the hammer (41.94m).
  • Her throws in the discus and shot put both set new LEC Championship records.
  • She ranks 11th in NCAA Division III in the discus (45.60m) and ranks 19th in the country in the shot put (13.49m) - both marks were achieved at the St. Joseph's Monks Invitational.
  • She is ranked second in New England in the discus and shot put, and is 24th in New England in the hammer (42.37m - Maine State Pine Tree Classic).
Rookie Track Athlete of the Year: Keely Giordano, Keene State
  • Placed third in the 100 dash (12.38) and fifth in the 200 dash at her first-ever LEC Outdoor Championships.
  • Anchored the LEC-runner-up 4x100 relay (50.16).
  • Her 100 time ranks 19th in New England, while the Owls' 4x100 relay time ranks 22nd in New England.
Rookie Field Athlete of the Year: Givanni Perry, Eastern Connecticut
  • Placed third in the long jump (5.22m) and triple jump (10.51m), and tied for fourth in the high jump (1.48m) at her first-ever LEC Outdoor Championships.
  • Recorded a season-best mark of 6.11 meters in the long jump at the Bonnie Edmondson Invitational that ranks second in NCAA Division III and New England this season.
  • Her season-best triple jump of 10.85 meters at the Wilton Wright Invitational is 31st in New England, while her season-best 1.51 meter high jump mark from the Coast Guard Spring Invitational ranks 35th.
Coaching Staff of the Year: Southern Maine
  • Head Coach: Rob Whitten
  • Assistant Coaches: Ryan Dyer, Jim Karcanes, Jim Giroux, Mike Drummey, Jeff Amos
  • Guided the Huskies to their fifth consecutive LEC outdoor team title, marking the LEC-record 24th team title win in program history.
