PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Three Owls earned a weekly award from the first Little East Conference from the first weekend of action as field hockey, women's soccer, and men's cross country were all represented over the week of 8/29-8/31.
Field Hockey
Senior forward
Grace Bazin (Westminster, Vt.) was named the LEC Offensive Player of the Week from her performance in the Owls' season-opening 7-2 win over Rivier University on Friday night. Bazin started the season off right where she left off after being named the 2024 Offensive Player of the Year as she recorded 26 goals and tallied 59 points (both the fifth most in a single season by an Owl) as she recorded three goals and an assist in the Owls' first game of the 2025 season. Following Bazin's lead, the Owls clinched win number 500 for head coach
Amy Watson, as she became the 14th coach in NCAA history across all levels to reach the 500-win milestone.
Bazin and the Owls return to action at home on Wednesday, September 3, at 6:30 PM against Colby-Sawyer College for their next contest.
Women's Soccer
Freshman midfielder
Kayla DiPasquale (Marshfield, Mass.) was named the LEC Rookie of the Week from her performance in the Owls' season-opening 4-2 win over Rivier University on the road on Saturday evening. After being subbed on at the 25:23 mark of the first half, it only took 4:57 for DiPasquale to make a big impact as she scored her first collegiate goal on her first shot attempt to put KSC up 2-1. Later in the second half DiPasquale continued to make a big impact as she took her second shot attempt that resulted in her second goal as an Owl. Her second goal ended up being the eventual game-winner as the Owls came away with the 4-2 win to open the 2025 season.
DiPasquale and the Owls return to action on the road against Salem State University on Wednesday, September 3, at 7:00 PM.
Men's Cross Country
Sophomore
Nick Terranova (South Dennis, Mass.) was named the LEC Runner of the Week from his performance at the Keene State Alumni meet on Saturday morning. Terranova improved on his time by over a minute and a half compared to his finish in the same meet a year ago, as he placed second with a time of 15:44.0. His second-place finish was over 30 seconds faster than third place, while he placed second only to his former teammate and All-American
Jake Velazquez.
Terranova and the Owls return to the course at the Shawn m. Nassaney Invitational at Bryant University on Saturday, September 6, at 11:15 AM.
