PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Two Keene State College student-athletes were honored by the Little East Conference for their achievements accomplished for the week of March 9-15.
Softball
Senior infielder
Kalle Halvorsen (Darien, Conn.) was named the LEC Player of the Week after dominating at the plate, going 6-for-7 (.857) over the Owls' first two games of the season, leading KSC to a 2-0 start to the first time since 2022. In the Owls' first game of the season, in the five innings of action, Halvorsen went 4-for-4 with a triple, two RBIs, and four runs scored in the Owls' mercy rule 14-6 win over Augsburg University. In the second of the games on the day, Halvorsen went 2-for-3 with another triple, along with a walk and run scored in KSC's 5-4 win over Salem State University on Sunday.
Freshman outfielder
Anna Gostkowski (Meriden, Conn.) was named the LEC Rookie of the Week from her first two collegiate games for the Owls in which she went 4-for-7 (.571) at the plate. In the Owls' first game of the season, Gostkowski went 1-for-3 at the plate, with a walk, while driving in her first collegiate RBI and scoring two runs. Gostkowski was a key part in the Owls' second win to open the season as she went 3-for-4 at the plate, while hitting her first collegiate home run and driving in four of KSC's five runs in the 5-4 win.
Halvorsen, Gostkowski, and the Owls return to action on their spring break trip on Monday, March 16, against No. 14 Simpson College at 1:45 PM.
