NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass. – Senior
David Floyd became the fifth pitcher in program history to eclipse 150 career strikeouts as the Keene State College baseball team came through late to post an important 6-2 Little East Conference road win over the University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth Saturday at the UMD Baseball Complex. The Owls were held to two hits and lost the nightcap 5-2.
The split leaves KSC at 11-3 in the Little East Conference with two games to go, but now two games behind the University of Southern Maine (12-1 LEC) in the loss column, with the Huskies having a road game at the University of Massachusetts-Boston and two at home against Eastern Connecticut State University remaining. KSC hosts WestConn on Senior Day Friday. The Owls' victory in the opener, where they scored four in the sixth to overcome a 2-0 deficit and two more in the ninth for insurance, gave them a clear path at tiebreakers over the Corsairs (18-18, 10-3 LEC), who currently sit in third place and can ensure finishing at least there with two wins in their last three games.
