PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The big inning continued to bite the Keene State College softball team on Saturday afternoon, as Rhode Island College used a five-run first inning in the opener and a six-run fourth inning in the second game to account for 11 of their 16 runs on the day as they went on to hand the Owls a pair of damaging losses, winning 6-1 and 10-1 in five innings at the Dayna A. Bazar Complex.
Entering the day separated by just a game in the standings and with the Owls (16-15, 4-8 LEC) looking to make hay toward the middle of the league standings, they now find themselves in a tie for sixth place and the final playoff spot with the University of Southern Maine entering the season's final week, where KSC will host Plymouth State University on Tuesday (6-4 LEC) and travel to the University of Massachusetts-Boston (3-7 LEC) on Saturday.
