Biography

Senior runner expected to be the leader of the pack for the Keene State Cross Country team this fall…will be in contention for a spot at the starting line at the NCAA Championships at Hanover College in Indiana…came into his own on the track as one of the nation’s top middle distance runners….a two-time All-America who will be looking to surpass his marks with a super senior season.

2012-13:  Cross Country:  One of the top pace-setters for the Owls, finishing second (26:51) at the KSC Invitational, fourth (26:14) at the LEC Championship and 12th with a time of 25:52 at the Conn. College meet…was the first Little East male runner to cross the finish line at the 2012 NCAA Division III New England Regional Championship, placing 31st with a time of 25:34.  Indoor Track:  Just second Owl to earn  LEC runner of the year honors since 2008…became the 66th student-athlete in Keene State indoor track and field history to earn All-America honors at the NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships at North Central College in Naperville, Ill…inn his debut in the national field, Widzgowski placed second in the mile with a personal best time of four minutes, 7.86 seconds. He also recorded the second fastest time in program history, finishing one minute, 1.84 seconds behind the standard set by Mark Miller… warmed up for the national championship field by placing second in the mile at the New England Division III Championships…helped Keene State finish sixth at the New England Alliance Championship by capturing the 1,000-meter run (2:34.20) and placing fourth in the 600-meter run (1:23.49)…Outdoor Track:  Became the second Owl to be named as the top track athlete in the conference… was one of the top middle distance runners in Division III this past spring, posting the fourth fastest time in the 1,500-meter run and the 17th in the 800-meter run… made his debut at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships, competing in the 1,500-meter run…became the 32nd Keene State men’s track athlete to earn All-America honors, when he was the third runner to cross the finish line at the Roger Harring Stadium with a time of three minutes, 48.59 seconds…qualified for the national championship meet with his performance at the prestigious Larry Ellis Invitational at Princeton University (3:48.75)….captured the 800-meter title at the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Championships, boasting the second fastest time in Owl history (1:51.83)…was selected as the Little East Track Athlete of the Week six out of the nine times the citation was awarded this season.   

2011-12 Cross Country:   Made significant strides on the trails, placing fourth (25:48) at the KSC Invitational and was the Owls’ fourth-man (26:19) at the New England Regional race...Indoor Track:  Placed fourth (4:25.86) in the mile at the LEC Championships…finished ninth in the mile (4:19.62) at the New England Division III Championships…Outdoor Track: Doubled at the LEC Championships, placing fourth in the 1,500 (3:57.09) and eighth (1:58.08) in the 800.

2010-11 Cross Country: Owls’ top finisher (26:33) at the UMass-Dartmouth sub-varsity race…ran a season PR of 26:52 at the New England Championships…posted a time of 27:03 at the KSC Invitational and was KSC’s sixth man (27:30) at the LEC Championships…Track:  Hampered by injuries throughout track season…ran a PR of 4:31.24 in the mile at the Dartmouth Indoor Classic…ran a season best 2:05.92 in the 800 at the 800 at the Wesleyan Invitational…Outdoors, ran a PR of 15:21.28 in the 5K at the New England Open Championships…ran a PR of 4:04.86 in the 1,500 at the New England Alliance meet.

Before KSC:  Joins Owl program after earning multiple All-Conference and team MVP honors at Camden (Me.) Hills Regional High…had a top-10 cross country finish in the Eastern Regional (Class B) meet…posted a PR time of 16:50 for 5K….ran the 800 and 1,600 events on the track…won the 800-meter race at both the conference indoor and outdoor championship meets…top time in the 800 was 2:00.16…to 1,600 mile time was 4:26.

Personal:  Ryan is an exercise science major.
