Biography
Making his debut for the Owls at the Bantam Invitational, Colinaset a KSC record and recorded an NCAA automatic qualifying markwith his first place performance in the javelin (213''-10"). Colina, originally from Boston and now living in Dover, N.H., setthe record with his first throw in the competition. Dan, aformer high school state champion and junior college All-American,far surpassed his previous personal best mark of (192'') in theevent.
Won the javelin at the LEC championship with a mark of 185''-00".
Dan attended Mt. Ararat High School in Maine, where he capturedthe state javelin championship as a senior. He would later spendsome time at Dean College in Franklin, Mass., where he playedbasketball before transferring to Allen County Community College inKansas. Colina earned junior college All-American honors at AllenCounty before packing up his javelin and moving on to King Collegein Bristol, Tenn. Colina qualified for the NAIA championship, butmissed All-America honors by two places.
Looking to improve his performance in the event, Colina, whostands 5'' 11" and weighs a solid 195 lbs., spent some time atEastern Tennessee State, where he trained with two-time Olympiandiscus thrower Meg Stone. He later retuned to Boston, training withthe Greater Boston Track Club.
Colina was drawn to Keene State by its special education majorand chance to compete in track.
