Keene State College

Hailing from a small town in Western New York, Julie Gorske moved to Keene in 2015 when her husband retired from the U.S. Army. She began coaching at Keene State College in 2017. In addition to coaching, she is a swim instructor at the Keene Family YMCA. Julie started swimming competitively at the age of 10 and continued through high school. In college, she chose to pursue her love of softball, only to suffer a career-ending shoulder injury during her freshman year. She decided to get back in the pool to help rehabilitate the shoulder, and that’s when she realized how much she missed the water. Swimming has been a huge part of her life ever since.

Julie began her coaching career in Germany with the Kaiserslautern Kingfish Swim Team, a member of the European Forces Swim League. She has since been an assistant coach for the Keene High School and Greenwood Memorial swim teams here in Keene. She is a Level 2 ASCA coach. Coach Julie holds a Doctor of Medicine degree from Duke University, a Master of Science degree from State University of New York at Fredonia, and a Bachelor of Science degree from Cornell University. However, her favorite title is “mom” to her own college students.

She resides in Keene with her husband, Andrew, and their incorrigible beagle, Buddy.
