David Westover '72 joined the Keene State track and field coaching staff in a volunteer role in March 2021.
Westover was a sprinter at Keene State under former coach Robert Taft. In his last collegiate track meet, he won the 440 (51.6 seconds) and was on the winning 440 and mile relay teams at the NAIA New England Meet at Southeastern Massachusetts University (now called UMass Dartmouth).
Westover went on to tstart the first ever middle school track program in the Fall Mountain Regional School District where he coached for 20 years. He would go on to run Master's track and in 2005, Westover earned All-American status in the 200 meters with a time of 26.52 at the National Senior Games in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
In 1996, Westover had the honor of being an Olympic Torch Bearer for the Atlanta Olympics. Westover spent over 30 years in the insurance industry, retiring as President of Clark-Mortensen Insurance Agency in Keene, N.H.
