KEENE, N.H. 10/14/00 - Freshman Tanaya Strong (Hatfield, Mass.) had three goals to lead Keene State College to a 6-1 Little East Conference field hockey victory over Worcester State College Saturday at Owl Stadium Complex.
Keene State improves to 12-3 (7-1 LEC). Worcester State falls to 6-8 (5-4 LEC). It was the first meeting between the two teams since the 1987 season.
Strong scored all three of her goals in the first half as Keene State jumped out to a 4-1 lead at the break. She now has seven goals on the season.
Kelly Smith (Lisbon, N.H.) added her 11th of the season and Kate Barnowski (Granville, Mass.) and Abbie Pernaa (Ashby, Mass.) also scored for KSC. It was Pernaa's first collegiate goal. Carrie Trudeau (Saco, Me.) finished the game with three assists.
Jen Tremblay (Rehoboth, Mass.) tallied the Lancers only score, her fifth of the season.
Making her first collegiate start in goal for KSC, Amy Carroll (Brunswick, Me.) made one saves. Lindsay Hamilton (Brattleboro, Vt.) played the second half and made two stops.
Alisha Bates (Palmer, Mass.) finished with 13 saves for WSC.
Keene State will host Bates College tomorrow at 1.
