KEENE, N.H. 10/15/00 - Katherene Tiffany's (Boston, Mass.) goal with 34 seconds remaining in the second overtime lifted Bates College to a 2-1 upset victory over Keene State College in a non-conterence field hockey game played Sunday at Owl Stadium Complex.
Ranked 13th nationally, Keene State (12-4) had its 34 home game winning streak snapped with the loss. KSC last loss at Owl Stadium to Springfield College (5-0) on Oct. 7, 1997. Bates College improves to 7-5.
The two teams traded penalty corner goals in the first half. Sarah Wetherbee (Walpole, Mass.) gave Bates a 1-0 and Keene State answered on a goal by Nichole Dallas (Marlow,N.H.) her first collegiate tally for the Owls.
Keene State controlled play in both overtime periods, but could not get the ball past Bobcat goalie Peggy Ficks (Washington, Conn.) who turned in a sensational game in goal making 24 saves. The Owls best chance came at the 10:34 mark of the second overtime when Carrie Trudeau (Saco, Me.) hit the post on a corner attempt.
Lindsay Hamilton (Brattleboro, Vt.) finished with 12 saves for KSC.
Keene State will host Westfield State in their final home regular-season game on Wednesday at 6 p.m.
