KEENE, N.H. 10/7/00 - Melissa Harnch-Smith (Newburyport, Mass.) had two goals in her first two of the season, and Carrie Trudeau (Saco, Me.) added three assists to help Keene State College edge Southern Maine 3-2 in a Little East Conference field hockey game played Saturday at Owl Stadium Complex.
It was the fifth straight win for the 12th ranked Owls (10-2) 5-1 LEC). Southern Maine 7-8 (4-2 LEC) suffered its third straight loss.
Smith scored on a rebound off a corner to give KSC a 1-0 half-time lead. The Owls extended their lead to 3-0 in the second half on Kelly's Smith's ninth goal of the season and the second of the game by Harnich-Smith.
The Huskies go on the board on Laura Jurkowski 's (E. Longmeadow, Mass.) seventh goal of the season. Darci Holland (Buckfield, Me.) scored off a corner with time expired.
Lindsay Hamilton (Brattleboro, Vt.) had three saves and Andrea Guerette (Fairfield, Me.) finished with seven saves for USM.
Keene State will play at Saem State (6 p.m.) on Monday.
