KEENE, NH 10/16/01- The Keene State College field hockey team
erupted for three goals in the second half to upset 19th ranked
Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute 3-1 at Owl Stadium Complex on
Tuesday.
Keene State, which had lost four out of its five last games,
improves to 8-9. It was the second straight loss for RPI (9-4).
Dina Cinelli (New Fairfield, CT) scored 10 minutes into the game
to give the Engineers a 1-0 half-time lead.
KSC scored three unanswered goals in the second half. Following
a free hit Annie Timson (Derry, NH) tied the game two minutes into
the second half.
Five minutes later, Melissa Harnch-Smith (Newburyport, MA.) got
the game-winner when she hit a shot between the legs of goalie
Cathy Hotchkiss (White Plains, N.Y.). It was the eighth goals of
the season from both Timson and Harnch-Smith. Nichole Dallas
(Marlow, NH) got an insurance goal, her sixth of the season, later
in the half following a scramble at the crease.
Lindsay Hamilton (Brattleboro, Vt.) made three saves for the
Owls. Hotchkiss finished with one save for RPI.
Keene State will be at Westfield State on Wednesday (7 p.m.).
