KEENE, N.H. (11/17/01)- Tournament MVP Meghan Csizmesia
(Arlington, Vt.) had a game-high 26 points and Erika Forsberg
(Laconia, NH) added 17 points and 14 rebounds to lead the Keene
State College women's basketball team to a 88-75 victory over
Norwich University in the Championship game of the KSC/Shaw's
Tip-Off Classic on Saturday.
The Owls jumped out to a 47-34 half-time lead behind the
shooting of Csizmesia, who hit five, three-pointers in the first
half.
The Cadets made a run at KSC in the second half getting to
within eight points (57-49) at the 14:29 mark. But the Owls
regrouped and extended their lead to 13 points with nine minute to
play.
Aly Araque (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.) who finished with 19 points
joined Forsberg on the All-Tournament team. Shevon Gibbons led
Norwich (1-1) with 25 points.
KSC, which improves to 2-0, has won the Classic five out of the
past six years.
A.J. LaBelle's basket with eight seconds to play lifted
Westfield State to a 58-54 win over Thomas College in the
consolation game. LaBelle had 18 points and Melissa Cote added 15
rebounds for Westfield State. Erin Morrell had 21 points for
Thomas.
