NASHUA, N.H. (12/6/01) - The Keene State College men's
basketball team improved its record to 6-1 with a 93-66
non-conference victory over Rivier College of Nashua on Thursday.
It was the third straight win for KSC while Rivier drops to 3-5.
Chris Timson (Beverly, MA.) and Dave Cudworth (Sanford, Me.)
each had 13 points to lead a balanced KSC attack. Derek Swenson
(Attleboro, MA.) (12 points), Chris Urquhart (Salem, NH) (11
points), and Jason Levecque (Westbrook, Me.) (10 points) also
scored in double-figures for the Owls. Matt Wheeler (Shrub oak, NY)
had 10 rebounds.
Aaron Lopez scored a game high 18 points for the Raiders. The
outcome of the game was never in doubt as the Owls raced to 28-6
lead on a basket by Cudworth at the 12:42 mark. KSC led 58-26 at
halftime.
Kyle Purinton (Northwood, NH), who suffered an ankle injury
prior to the season, returned to the staring line-up at the center
position for the first time this year. He finished with five points
and three rebounds.
KSC had a 54-35 advantage on the boards.
Keene State hasn't lost to Rivier in seven meetings.
Keene State returns to LEC play and wraps up its first semester
schedule with a 3 p.m. game against an improving Southern ME team
(4-3, 1-0 LEC)(3 p.m.) at Spaulding Gym on Saturday.
