KEENE , N.H. 9/13/01 - Melissa Harnch-Smith (Newburyport, MA.)
had three goals and Annie Timson (Derry, N.H.) added two tallies to
lead the Keene State College field hockey team to a 6-0 shutout
victory over Endicott College in Keene on Thursday.
It was the second straight win for KSC (2-2). Endicott falls to
0-2. The Owls jumped out to a 4-0 half-time lead. Harnch-Smith
scored two of the goals; her second came from a penalty stroke.
Timson and Tanya Strong (Hatfield, MA.) also netted first half
goals. Harnch-Smith's drilled home her third goal of the game and
fourth of the season, midway in the second half. Timson completed
the scoring with her second goal of the game in the closing
minutes. KSC outshot Endicott by a 46-4 margin.
KSC goalie Amy Carroll (Brunswick, Me.) had four saves to
register her first career shutout. Allison McMore (Fort Ann, NY)
(seven saves) and Kim O'Toole (Georgetown, MA.) (10 saves) each
played a half in goal for the Powergulls.
Keene State will host Fitchburg State in a LEC/Alliance game on
Saturday (1 p.m.).
