FRAMINGHAM, MA. 9/18/01 - Nichole Dallas (Marlow, N.H.) scored
with 2:04 remaining in regulation to give Keene State College a
dramatic 2-1 victory over host Framingham State College in a Little
East Conference/Alliance field hockey action on Tuesday. It was the
fourth straight win for KSC (4-2, 2-0 LEC). Framingham State falls
to 2-2 (0-2 LEC).
Dallas' game-winner, her second goal of the season, was a hard
drive from just inside the circle. 'After I hit the ball, I thought
someone else put it into the net,' said the sophomore back. 'I was
just happy we didn't have to go into overtime.'
KSC Caitlin Henley (Somers, N.Y.) opened the scoring with 22:52
left in the first half when she tipped in a shot from Melissa
Harnch-Smith (Newburyport, MA.). FSC knotted the score a minute
late on a goal by Jamie Shannon (Framingham, MA.). The game reMEd
tied until Keene State pressed the attack in the closing minutes
and Dallas was able to capitalize.
Amy Carroll (Brunswick, Me.) (two saves) and Lindsay Hamilton
(three saves) each played a half in goal for the Owls. Megan
Johnson (So. Dennis, MA.) finished with four saves for the Rams.
Keene State will host regional power Williams College on
Thursday (6 p.m.).
