MANSFIELD, CT 9/29/01 - The Keene State College field hockey
team suffered its first Little East Conference loss of the season,
4-0 to Eastern Connecticut State University on Saturday.
The win for Eastern over Keene State is the first after shutout
losses each of the past three years. The Owls outscored ECSU 19-0
over that span. ECSU went up 1-0 on a first half goal by Danielle
Oliver and added three unanswered goals in the second half.
Sharon Kilpatrick had three goals and Nicole Otterspoor added
three assists to lead the Warriors (6-4, 3-2 LEC). Lindsay Hamilton
(Brattleboro, Vt.) (two saves) and Amy Carroll (Brunswick, ME) (six
saves) both saw action in goal for the Owls (5-5, 3-1 LEC) who
dropped their second straight game.
ECSU's Jennifer Makwana made nine saves to notch her second
shutout of the season .
Keene State will host Bridgewater State on Tuesday (6:30 p.m.).
