Owls Women Fall To 10th Ranked Eastern CT 66-53

KEENE, N.H. 1/15/02- Allison Coleman (Jewett City, CT) scored a game high 18 point and had 10 rebounds to lead the10th ranked (Div. III) Eastern Connecticut State University women's basketball team to a 66-53 Little East Conference victory over host Keene State College on Tuesday.

With the loss, Keene State (9-5, 4-2 LEC) had its four game winning streak snapped. Eastern CT, rebounds from its first loss of the season on Saturday at Southern ME, to improve to 12-1 overall and 5-1 in conference play.

Hayley Alaimo (Ellington, CT) and Aly Araque (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.) each had 14 points to lead the Owls. Erika Forsberg (Laconia, NH) also finished with nine points and a team high 10 rebounds.

A late 12-2 spurt gave Eastern CT a 33-25 half time lead. Keene State utilized its three-point shooting to get back in the game. A trey by Alaimo got KSC to within one point (47-46) with 7;34 to play. But the Warriors went on a 11-2 run from there taking a 58-48 lead on a three-pointer by Coleman with 3:52 to go.

Eastern CT had a 42-29 advantage on the boards. Although the Owls hit 10 three-point shots, the Warriors committed just three fouls in the game.

Keene State will be on the road for a LEC game against UMA-Boston (1 p.m.) on Saturday.
