KEENE, N.H. 1/8/02- Sarah Linn (Brattleboro, Vt.) had a
season-high 16 points and 10 assists and Erika Forsberg (Laconia,
NH) added 10 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Keene State women's
basketball team to a 60-44 Little East Conference victory over
Western Connecticut State University, Tuesday at Spaulding Gym.
It was the third win in the last four games for KSC, which
improves to 7-4 and 3-1 in the conference. Western CT falls to 4-8
and remains winless in the LEC with a 0-4 mark. The Owls jumped out
to a 9-0 lead and held WCSU without a basket until the 12:04 mark
of the first half. After the Colonials came back to take a 12-11
lead, the Owls regained control and went ahead 24-21 at the break.
KSC took control of the game with just under 16 minutes to play.
Aly Araque (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.) hit consecutive three-point
shots to give the Owls a 33-25 lead. Linn connected on a
three-pointer and Forsberg hit a short jumper to highlight a 9-2
run that put KSC ahead 42-27 with 11:34 to play.
Lindsay Johnson (Deer Park, Tx) had 15 points and seven rebounds
to lead WCSU, which struggled from the floor hitting just 14 of 53
shots (.264 pct.
Andrea Arsenault (Dover, NH) made her first appearance for the
Owls in the game. The transfer from Franklin Pierce finished with
four points.
Keene State will host Endicott College in a non-conference game
on Thursday (5:30 p.m.).
